The current underage set-up is
headed by minor board chairman Bernard Devine and Lyndon Gillespie while
the ladies are co-ordinated by the ladies board. During the winter months starting last November
boys and girls from the ages of 6 to 14 have been training continuously
every Friday in the Oak Tree Centre in Killygordon. They trained right through until May and
when the weather started to improve they moved up to train in Monellan Park on various days of the week.
It is fantastic to see the effort
and dedication shown by the kids and the coaches which will without doubt
reap rewards for the Club in years to come.
Martin Wilson was one of the first to start an underage coaching drive
in the early 2000’s. The benefits of
his leadership along with the many coaches who contributed every Saturday
morning in the Finn Valley Centre are now clear to be seen. The senior ladies and men’s teams are
littered with young players who graduated from the underage set-up.

VHI Cúl Camps
The Club hosted the VHI Cúl Camp at the end of June, this year was the 6th
annual Camp, coaches from all over the county came and gave their expertise
to the energy filled and enthusiastic children. County star and gentleman Michael Murphy
signed autographs for the kids, stood for photographs and even did nets for
a penalty shoot-out! Other stars to attend the camps in recent years
include All-Star corner back Karl Lacey, Barry Dunnion, & Dara Gallagher.

Achievements
As past few years the flow of
silverware into the club has steadily grown. In 2010 our U14 team competed in the
Division 1 league for the first time, and were unfortunate to lose out in
the Shield final to Buncrana.
This year Gary Kelly, Colm Melaugh & Ronan Gallen were part of the Donegal U16 team after being
earmarked by manager Stephen Friel in the U15
Development squad. Cliodhna Muldoon starred for the Donegal U14 ladies and
will be hoping to progress further in that team in 2010/11.
Our U16 team won the Divsion 2 Shield defeating Gweedore
while the U13’s won the Division 2 Northern Plate.
Underage

Every December the Club holds an
underage presentation evening where the children are rewarded for their
efforts throughout the year, trophy winners are acknowledged with their
medals and each child gets a certificate.
There are trophies for the best player and most improved player in
each age group and category. Previous special guests have included Frank McGlynn, Karl Lacey, Michael
Murphy & Aidan Connolly.
